Rainy Day Peony - This floral extravaganza,
too heavily petaled to hold up it's crown once dowsed with spring rain,
droops and scatters it's carnival colors across a murky puddle.
Illustrative digital art by Gae.
Petals were draw with the pen tool. Leaves were shaped in quick mask (this is anything but quick). These shapes masked multiple layers of textures set to various blend modes which resulted in the bright harlequin color scheme. The puddle was swirled from a clouds filter created marble background. A photograph was used as reference for the peony's flower for a more accurate depiction of this familiar spring scene.
